Ambassador John L. Loeb, Jr. was the U.S. representative to Denmark from 1981 to 1983 and is the grand-nephew of Governor Herbert H. Lehman. On March 25, 2010, he gave the 41st Annual Herbert H. Lehman Memorial Lecture speaking about the importance of religious tolerance.
